But really, do aliens have to be repulsive looking robots? Do we have to show up their physical ugliness by worse deeds (we are psychically, morally repulsive, etc?). At some level, this is a failure of imagination; we can't imagine an alternative, and that is why we are foreclosing other possible futures.
